Light-Up Acrylic Name Sign Motherboard Build

Project Description:
In this hands-on STEM project, students learn the fundamentals of electronics, soldering, and circuit board design by creating a custom motherboard that powers a light-up acrylic name sign for their desk. Each student receives a blank circuit board, LED components, resistors, and connectors. Guided through the safe use of soldering irons, they practice essential maker skills while assembling and soldering their components in place.

Once complete, the motherboard is connected to an engraved acrylic panel featuring each student’s name. The LEDs illuminate the sign, transforming their hard work into a personalized, glowing desk display. This project not only introduces practical skills like soldering and circuitry but also gives students a lasting product that showcases their creativity and technical abilities.
